Experience

10:30am-10:45am - Welcome and coffee.

Meet your co-hosts, Strawberry Tree founder and head chef, Giselle, and Maggie Richardson, a traditional baker who was a contestant on the Great British Bake Off in 2021. Whilst Maggie is happy to attempt any baking challenge her particular interests are bread, pastry and patisserie. She writes a monthly column in Dorset Magazine and is a member of the Guild of Food Writers. She loves to chat about baking, the Bake Off and all things connected! Together, Giselle and Maggie will guide you through a hugely enjoyable morning of puff pastry adventures, with plenty of anecdotes along the way...

10:45am-11:45pm - Morning Session I

Together we will make:

  • Rough-puff pastry. Technique & knowledge lie at the heart of good rough-puff - and you will learn both!
  • Millefeuille - the classic French dessert made with layered puff pastry and crème diplomat. Stylish, rich and creamy - one to show-off to your friends.

11:45am-12:00pm - Break

Time for a short break and a cup of coffee, tea and a biscuit. Feel free to explore the Strawberry Tree garden or visit the artisan makers that share the Town Mill with Strawberry Tree.

12:00pm-1:00pm - Morning Session II

Together we will make:

  • Rough-puff pastry. We will continue the process of making our own rough-puff, ready for you to take home.
  • Tarte Tatin - another iconic dessert that can be sweet or savoury - and easy to make when you know how.

Our day wraps up at around 1pm. Time to say goodbye to the Strawberry Tree kitchen - but you will leave with your own rough-puff, ready to make your own creations at home, as well as your own millefeuille and tart tatin to wow your friends (just in time for Sunday lunch!).

*A note about the discounted price for two people - this discount simply reflects two people sharing a workstation and the cooking tasks and takeaway goodies – no arguing, please!

NB. Please note that our workshops sometimes use induction hobs which are not recommended for people with pacemakers. Please contact us if you have any concerns.
